More about the show

Good morning:
Have been hustling around here since the show and have not had time to write much.
The two days of the show, Crafts on the Coast, were very rewarding. Both in terms of keeping up with friends and sales of my caps. Here are some highlights.
1. A husband and wife stopped to look at the caps and I asked if he would try on some of the guy caps because I was not sure if they really would fit a man. He obliged, but was a little embarrassed by it. He would not put the caps on as he would if he were serious about wearing a cap. He assured me that he had a large head and so would not pull the caps down around his ears. I was a little disappointed because I couldn’t tell if they fit or would fit another man-type head. Then I remembered that in one of my books, there is a picture of North Sea fishermen who were wearing obviously knit caps on the tops of their heads, with the major part of the cap body flopped over on the side. And that is what he looked like in the guy caps he tried on for me.
2. Had a third time cap buyer. The husband and wife who I wrote about some time ago. She got one of the shop sisters this time. It was a very old cap in burgundy and done in a riot of cables and K/P combinations. The only problem with it was that it was too short bodied for an adult woman. Or so I thought. On this customer it was a perfect fit. Am sure glad I kept it. And it rather reinforced my notion that just because a cap does not sell right away does not mean that there is not a perfect head for it out there somewhere.
3. A knitting friend of mine who lives in Yachats came through the show and traded me a big bag of yarns left over from her knitting projects. She went out with a good cap done in blue and white out of yarns spun by my friend, Arlene, a dynamite spinner. I really love working in hand spun yarns. It seems that there is a life to hand spun yarns that is not present in many commercial yarns.
The weekend went from good to better and better. I sold a lot more caps than I ever have and re-met old friends and met some new ones. The next show will be in November. Am already looking forward to it.
Happy knitting. Granny LJ
